Homes are usually designed from the outside in. The elevations are drawn, the walls are positioned, the roofline is resolved – and then the rooms are made to fit inside.
Paul Schofield takes a different approach. Every PS Dream Homes project begins with how the home will actually be lived in. The furniture is considered first: beds, dressing areas, kitchen islands, dining tables, sofas, storage, fireplaces, views, entertaining spaces and the natural flow from room to room.
Only once the inside works beautifully are the walls, glazing, structure and exterior form developed around it. This inside-out approach creates homes that do not simply look impressive from the outside. They work beautifully from the moment you walk through the door.

Paul Schofield has been involved in property renovation, remodelling and home transformation since 1984. Over that time, he has completed around 25 of his own personal property projects and has been involved in hundreds more for clients, homeowners and developers.
That experience has shaped a very instinctive way of designing. Paul does not simply look at a house as it is. He sees what it could become. He understands proportion, balance, character, light, flow and value. He can look at a tired property and quickly understand where it needs to be extended, opened, rebalanced, softened or given greater architectural presence.
Some homes need a contemporary transformation. Others need their period character enhanced and protected, some require a mix of both. Paul’s strength lies in knowing the difference — and knowing how to reveal the best version of the property.

Paul has spent over four decades designing, remodelling, renovating and project-managing homes. Having worked closely with trades on building sites in both England and Spain, he understands not only how a home should look and feel, but how it will actually be built.
Every design is considered from both sides: the dream and the detail. The flow of the rooms, the furniture, the light, the shadows. Rooflines, glazing, the kitchen, the bathrooms., lighting – landscaping, steelwork, carpentry, construction the atmosphere, the mood, the energy and every finishing detail.

Why one complete vision matters
Many renovation projects lose their way because the design is split between too many people. The architect draws the structure, the kitchen company sells a kitchen, the bathroom supplier designs a bathroom, the electrician adds rows of downlights and the landscaper arrives at the end.
Too much is left for the builder and individual trades to interpret. They all have strong opinions, but the result can feel stressful, expensive and disconnected, with a finish far from the magazine design you had always wanted.

Transforming potential into value
One of Paul’s own transformation projects began as a dated Berkshire property purchased for £700,000. With a complete redesign, major remodelling, interior design, lighting, landscaping and project management, the property was transformed into a substantial family home and later sold for £2.2 million.
The increase in value was not achieved simply by adding floor area. It was created by vision, proportion, detail and an experienced understanding of the property market. Paul understands the details and expectations that must be addressed as a property moves through different levels of the market.
